Perimeter Community Improvement District

Congressman Tom Price Shares Insights at PCIDs' CEO Roundtable

Dr. Price talked before a group of business investors at the Perimeter Community Improvement Districts' CEO Roundtable hosted by Gold Kist. The Congressman stated that he is a huge fan of the CID's because they bring resources, energy, enthusiasm, ideas and solutions out side the realm of the ordinary. In his view CIDs through public/private partnerships bring a personality into the room that moves public policy issues forward. The message from the leadership of the CIDs is an understanding of what works in their area, self-taxing commitment, the solutions they see to resolve issues and the desire to move forward quickly.

Price stated that transportation is a priority and he continues to improve on the success already realized in Georgia's increased percentage of funds being returned from the Federal Highway Administration. That percentage from the Federal Highway Reauthorization Bill rested between 82 and 85% historically. With the determination and support of his colleagues that percentage is now between 90-92%. That means billions of dollars coming home to Georgia for use in solving the transportation challenges that face the metro and the entire state of Georgia.

Price discussed several of the major projects of interest to Perimeter including the I-75/I-285 Bus rapid Transit plan and the GA 400 Collector/Distributor. He said that the CD system is an example of a project where public and private sector support are needed to add to the efforts of the Congressional leadership working to make these projects a reality.

Dr. Price is a first-term member of Congress serving in Georgia's Sixth Congressional District. He is noted for his diligent and tireless work and problem solving skills.
