Clean Air Campaign - PACE Awards Awarded to Cousins Properties

Thursday, October 2, 2003

PCIDs and Perimeter Transportation Coalition (PTC) member, Cousins Properties, won the first Commercial Property Management PACE Award on Thursday, October 2 at the region's annual PACE Awards luncheon. The PACE Awards are sponsored by the Clean Air Campaign. They recognize the best alternative transportation programs of the region's employers and property management companies, focusing on issues such as vanpools, transit, shuttles, and bicycle and walking amenities.

2003 is the first year that the PACE Awards have recognized Commercial Property Management firms in a separate category from the region's large employers, acknowledging that the two groups bring very different contributions to the campaign to reduce regional traffic congestion. Cousins' PACE win comes quickly on the heels of its August Commercial Property Management PerimeterGo! Award, recognizing Cousins-Concourse as the having the best alternative transportation program in the Perimeter office market.

Some of Concourse's most exciting and influential programs include a daily shuttle that carries 2,200 passengers/day and meets 15 minute headways, a discount transit sales program, sidewalks throughout the complex, and bicycle racks near the entrance of every building/parking facility.

Two other Perimeter firms were finalists in this category. Hines Interests was recognized for its work at One Ravinia Drive and Perimeter Summit; and Equity Office Properties reached final consideration for its work with its Perimeter Center, Terraces, and Central Park properties. In other PACE Award categories, Hewlett Packard, the Art Institute of Atlanta (AIA), Cox Enterprises, Will Byrd of AIA, and Melanie Faser of Hines were also finalists for consideration.
